Dr. Root has a special interest in mixed animal medicine and a growing passion for small animal theriogenology. She enjoys caring for a variety of species, including dogs, cats, cattle, and small ruminants. Her veterinary journey began in high school as a receptionist at her local animal clinic before moving into a veterinary assistant role throughout college. During veterinary school, she continued working in a mixed animal practice, gaining valuable hands-on experience alongside large animal ambulatory veterinarians.
From a young age, Dr. Root was drawn to animals and inspired by the beloved All Creatures Great and Small book series. As her passion for science and academics grew, veterinary medicine became the perfect way to combine her love of animals with her interest in medicine and lifelong learning.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Root enjoys reading, playing the viola, and practicing yoga. She shares her home with two beloved pets: Remy, her Tibetan Spaniel and self-described "perfect angel," and Mort, a mischievous black cat who became a permanent member of the family after a foster fail during veterinary school.
