Dr. Brett Flathers Bio

Dr. Brett Flathers

Veterinarian

College of Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Flathers specializes in companion animal medicine and surgery. He has a special interest in orthopedics.

Brett grew up in Worthington, MN and graduated from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989.

Brett enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife, Laura, and children, Kaitlyn and Ryan.

They have three poodles named Percy, Roo, and Charlie and three cats: Sassy, Scruffy, and Scamps.

Dr. John Fritts Bio

Dr. John Fritts

Veterinarian
Iowa State University

Dr. Fritts specializes in Dairy medicine and companion animal care. He has always enjoyed solving problems and working with animals and people, which is why he pursued veterinary medicine.

John grew up in Dixon IL and graduated from Iowa State University in 1997 with a D.V.M. degree.

John and his wife Tessa have 3 children; Kendra, John, and Logan along with their 3 legged cat Schemo.

Dr. Sara Hoge

Dr. Hoge provides companion animal and production animal care in Lewiston, as well as companion animal care in Eyota.

Sara grew up in Aitkin, located in central Minnesota, on a 50-head cow/calf beef farm, where she became interested in veterinary medicine. Sara graduated in May 2017 from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine.

When not working, Sara enjoys being active outdoors including camping, hiking, running, recreational sports, and hunting. She also loves hanging out with her family, friends, and a dog named Tette.

Dr. Karen Lorch

Dr. Lorch has been working with dairy cows and goats, small ruminants, and companion animals with Lewiston Veterinary Clinic since 2005. She is accredited with the Food Armor program and has been implementing this information with our dairy clients. She enjoys being an active part of her client’s farms and helping them care for their animals.

Karen grew up on a beef and swine farm near Dodge Center, MN. She was involved with 4-H & FFA for many years and still enjoys helping with these organizations.

Karen and her husband, Tobin, live on a hobby farm near Lewiston. She is the proud mother of 3 children; Carter, Audrey, and Madisen. Her family owns an array of goats, beef cattle, chickens, barn cats, and rabbits. She also owns an intense German Shepherd Dog named Herbie. Interests outside of work include her family, volunteering at church & school, and raising and showing Boer and Nubian goats and Mini Rex rabbits.

Dr. Kathryn Murphy Bio

Dr. Kathryn Murphy

Veterinarian

Dr. Murphy’s interests in veterinary medicine are dairy medicine and beef production and she also enjoys working with companion animals.

Kathryn grew up in the suburbs of Massachusetts and as such, is a huge fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. She became interested in dairy cattle and agriculture through her local 4-H club when she was younger and then pursued that interest as an Animal Science major at the University of New Hampshire.

Kathryn attended the University of Minnesota for Veterinary School and graduated in May 2014. Although her love for animals initially attracted her to veterinary medicine, she really enjoys working with producers and pet owners.

Kathryn and her husband Jordan live on a dairy, beef, and crop farm. They have 2 energetic Australian Shepherds, Mila and Clyde, and a cat named Ronda. Interests outside of work include hiking, baking, and visiting her family out East.

Aliyyah

Dr. Aliyyah Noel

Veterinarian

College of Veterinary Medicine

Originally from Faribault, Minnesota, Dr. Noel rode horses and helped on the farms of various family friends growing up. She became interested in production medicine early on in veterinary school. Dr. Aliyyah Noel earned her veterinary degree from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. Since then, she has enjoyed providing companion animal and production animal care in Lewiston.

When she isn’t taking care of her patients, Dr. Noel enjoys spending time with friends and family, camping, and hanging out with her horse. She thoroughly enjoys experimenting with new sewing projects and recently began to embroider as well.

Dr. Noel is looking forward to meeting all our wonderful clients and patients. She will be available for appointments in July and cannot wait to provide you with the exceptional care you have become familiar with receiving from Lewiston Veterinary Clinic!

Aliyyah

Dr. Ethan Scharmer

Dr. Scharmer grew up on a small hobby farm just outside of Winona, MN, with sheep, pigs, and dogs. He was an active member of the local 4-H club, where he became interested in veterinary medicine. Ethan graduated from UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2023. Outside of work, Ethan enjoys swimming, hunting, woodworking, recreational sports, and countless trips to the park with his wife, Becca, and 18-month-old daughter Wren.

Natalie Johnson Bio
Natalie Johnson, Practice Manager
Natalie started at the practice in October 2021. She has her B.S. in Business Management from the University of Wisconsin Stout, her Associate’s degree in Marketing from Western Technical, and she also received an Event Management Certificate from the University of San Diego. Her hobbies include boating, hiking, camping, hockey, and being an Uber driver for her children. She has a pet Border Collie named Berry, a Catahoula Leopard named Lou, a Lovebird named Lovie, and a Bearded Dragon named Zoomer.

Abby Ehlenfeldt Bio
Abby, Certified Veterinary Technician
Abby is one of our technicians who joined the LVC team in 2016. She grew up around Altura, Minnesota. She attended Rochester Community and Technical College and graduated in the spring of 2016 with an associate in applied science degree. Abby did her externship here at the clinic in the summer of 2015. Abby and her husband Josh enjoy walking and biking with their dog, hunting, and hanging out with family. They have a poodle named Archie and a kitty named Annie.
Andie, Veterinary Technician
Andie, Certified Veterinary Technician

Andie is a veterinary technician who joined our team after interning in the summer of 2018. She grew up in Onamia, a small town located in central Minnesota, and now lives in southwestern WI with her boyfriend and their three dogs.
Andie graduated from UW-River Falls in the spring of 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science with an emphasis in Veterinary Technology. She also graduated from Rochester Community and Technical College in the spring of 2019 with an associate’s in applied science for veterinary technology. Outside of work, Andie likes to spend most of her time outside doing activities like: hunting, fishing, camping, and playing with the dogs. Andie works with clients and patients in both our Lewiston and Eyota locations.

Morgan, Certified Veterinary Technician
Morgan joined Lewiston after completing her full time internship at the clinic, she officially became a full time employee of June 2023. Morgan graduated from Colorado Mountain College with an A.A.s. in Veterinary Technology. In Morgan’s spare time she enjoys hiking, going out on the river, snowboarding, concerts, spending time with family, friends, and pets. She has 1 dog Toby, and 2 cats Nala and Simba.
Elizabeth Lewis Bio
Elizabeth, Certified Veterinary Technician
Elizabeth started at the practice in March 2019. She received her BA in Biology, and Associates of Applied Science in Vet Tech. Her hobbies include redesigning her camper, cuddling with her pets, and taxidermy. She has a dog, a cat, sugar gliders, and a hognose snake.
Hannah Duncanson Bio
Hannah, Certified Veterinary Technician

Hannah is one of our technicians who joined the LVC team in 2016. She grew up in Dakota, Minnesota. Hannah attended Rochester Community and Technical College and graduated in the spring of 2016 with an associate’s in applied science. In her spare time, Hannah enjoys horseback riding, walking her pet goats, and hanging out with friends. Hannah is a proud mom of a golden retriever named Jayda, a cocker spaniel named Margo, and two kitties named Karen and Simon.

Kayla Paulson Bio
Kayla, Certified Veterinary Technician

Kayla joined Lewiston and Eyota Vet clinics in 2017. She graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor’s in Science degree in veterinary technology. In her spare time, Kayla enjoys reading and hiking in various state parks across the state. Kayla and her husband have a daughter, and border collie named Saige, both keep them very busy!

Brianna started at Lewiston in March of 2022. She graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Rochester Community College. At her and her boyfriend raise beef cattle, goats, chickens, and livestock guardian dogs. In her very rare spare time she enjoys hunting and out on the river. She has 8 dogs- Sadie, Cabella, Tessa, Hudson, Pretzel, Journey, Winnie, and Bandit. She has 2 house cats- Blizzard and Elliott along with several barn cats.

Jennifer, Veterinary Technician

Jennifer started her career at the practice in October 2021. In her free time, she enjoys camping, horseback riding, fishing, kayaking, and anything else that is in the outdoors. She has a dog named Paisley and a horse named Lilly

In September of 2022 Helen joined both Lewiston and Eyota Veterinary clinics. She is currently attending the Rochester Community College Veterinary Technician program with plans of graduating in spring of 2024. In Helen’s free time she enjoys fishing, hiking with her 2 dogs, and spending time with family and friends. Helen has 2 dogs Lail and Kiara.

Guyla, Veterinary Assistant
Guyla joined both Lewiston and Eyota Veterinary Clinics in March of 2023. She is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technician Program at RCTC in Rochester with graduation scheduled May of 2024. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and watching Netflix. Guyla has 3 dogs; 2 Bluetick coonhounds named Bixby and Zarah and Great Dane named Xena.

Tracy Clouter Bio
Ashley, Receptionist
Ashley joined our team in September 2022 as a receptionist. Ashley graduated from RCTC with a degree in Veterinary Technology. Between working at the clinic, feeding calves and running her 3 kiddos around she finds joy in gardening, baking and going camping. Ashley has many critters of her own including 7 guinea pigs, 1 dog, 9 cats, 1 tortoise, 1 hedgehog, and 17 sheep.
Jerry
Jenna, Receptionist

Jenna joined both Lewiston and Eyota Veterinary Clinics in May of 2023. She comes to the clinic with an Associates of Applied Science degree from NICC and is continuing her education to become a Veterinary Technician. You will see Jenna both as a receptionist and a veterinary assistant in the clinics. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends and family, spending time with her animals, shopping and fishing. Jenna shares her home with 3 dogs- Mas, Butch, and Rosie Mae, 3 cats- Felix, Digit, and Peanut, and 6 chickens.

Tracy Clouter Bio
Tracy, Receptionist

Tracy is our receptionist and is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Waseca. She came to the Lewiston Veterinary Clinic in 1990 as a veterinary technician.

Tracy and her husband Dana live on a hobby farm. They have two sons, Shane and Cody. Tracy is very involved in 4-H, raising goats, chickens, and beef cattle. Tracy also volunteers on the Winona County Fair Board.

Jerry, Facilities

Jerry is the gentleman that keeps the clinic spic and span! Jerry has been with the clinic for 25+ years. He does an absolutely wonderful job keeping the clinic in order and keeping us girls orderly. We can’t thank Jerry enough for all the hard work he does behind the scenes at the clinic.
